Our dog, Benson, is really like a second mother...or third parent...to Jackson. He insists on going wherever Jack goes and I personally think he believes Ian and I are doing a questionable job!! If Jack cries and we don't get to him right away, the puppy will run to Jack's room then run to us, then nudge us, then start whining and maybe even bark at us just 'so we know' that Jack is awake.The other night we accidentally left the baby monitor on downstairs and sometime around 2am Ian came down to check and turn it off...indeed we had left it on and the dog looked in really bad shape...like he hadn't slept in hours! Poor guy!!
Maybe his motives are a bit different than the human spin we tend to put on them...given that, according to Benson, the most interesting part of Jackson to sniff is, well...the stinky part...that's right - Benson heads for the diaper or the feet first and foremost every time he gets a chance...just for a quick sniff!
But he also seems to know that sometimes we all just need a little loving - because if Jackson is crying Benson never misses an opportunity to give a quick lick on the head...and honestly - sometimes it works better than anything Mom or Dad are doing!
