A funny thing happened...

So, when I picked Jack up at daycare this afternoon I didn't have Jessica with me. Ian got home a touch early so he hung out with Jessica while I got Jack at daycare. I realize that since Jessica was born I have always had Jessica with me when I've picked up Jack at the daycare - so on the way there I was thinking it was kind of peaceful getting to go there without a crying baby in the backseat. Anyway - so I got to the daycare, Jack came running over like he always does (saying "Hi Mommy", "My Mommy") and he came to a full stop about 2 feet from me and said "Ek-ee-ca go? Where Ek-ee-ca?"(Note: 'Ek-ee-ca' is how Jack says Jessica) and was looking around for her. He actually seemed kinda concerned! Anyway - short story but it was quite cute!

Oh...a couple more 'cute' brother/sister things.
1) Jack let Jessica have a quick dip in his bath tonight...much to the relief of Mom who was trying to figure out how to time everyone's bath and bed. Like usual she started crying immediately and so we kept the bath about 1 minute long. Jack was all smiles when she first came in the bath, then he was all disappointed when she was crying. Later on I told Jack to tell 'Dad' about Jessica in the bath and all Jack had to say about it was...."cry". I'm thinking he might not be as open to the idea in the future!

2) As you know, new babies have basically no control of their arms and legs. So sometimes when I'm getting Jack dressed in the morning I'll lay Jessica on his bed next to him. He generally thinks this is pretty cool. Today she whacked him in the face (as hard as a baby could possibly "whack" you...) and he said "hit?" and I said "did she hit you" and he said "yeah" and so I go into the speech about "she's a little baby and she doesn't know what she's doing" and he said "yeah" and I said "okay?" and he said "okay!". Then a minute later she swung her arms and touched (literally - TOUCHED) his big stuffed dog and he quickly throws himself over her legs and holds onto the stuffed dog (to those not familiar with this dog...it's about 4.5 ft long so it's not a small cuddly toy) and says "NO Ek-ee-ca, Jack puppy, my puppy, no"...so apparently in our house hitting each other in the face is okay but touching each others stuffed animals is forbidden!

3) A couple days ago we were driving home from daycare and Jessica was wailing in the back seat (she used to cry ALL the time on the drive to and from the daycare...now it happens about 1 or 2 times a weeks only!). I try to keep talking to Jack to relieve everyone's tension or anxiety over the crying...on this particular day I was talking to Jack and when I stopped at the next red light (damn lights...always red when the baby is crying and green when she's happy!!) I look back to speak to Jack and he's got a finger in the ear that is closest to Jessica's car seat! Haha - and I was just commenting a week or so ago about how toddlers/infants, etc., just don't seem to be bothered by baby crying...I stand corrected!

Oh no! Injury #2 in one week!

Poor Jack is having a rough week. So - Monday was the injury on the head from the kid pushing him. Tuesday was a visit to the eyedoctor for his post-op check (everything was fine but Jack started freaking out when we went into the exam room...perhaps he's a little 'off' doctors right now). Now yesterday I got a call from the daycare because he tripped over a toy at daycare and fell head first into the corner of a toyshelf! In their words..."he broke his fall with his forehead". The daycare called us right away and we picked him up and took him to the doctor...who said he seemed okay but to keep an eye on any symptoms (long list) that I guess would suggest concussion. Sigh...poor little guy. He honestly doesn't really seem too bothered by it - he was running around like a nut last night...but he's home with me today just in case he's a little wonky. Anyway - it started swelling right away and he's got a big goose egg in the middle of his forehead. Ian asked for a copy of the incident report when he picked Jack up and the daycare seemed concerned - Ian explained that it was simply because we were going to the doctor and this was the second head injury in 3 days so he wanted back up that the injuries were legitimate!! Haha! I'll post a picture later of Jack's poor little head:(

I couldn't decide which picture to post...the first two are the night after it happened (I just think the 'sad' face one is so cute!). The 3rd pic is the next morning!

And a quick one of Jessica....pretty much able to sit in her Bumbo, yeah!!

Daycare Injury!!

This is what your face looks like after a kid takes a toy away from you then pushes you into a bookshelf (and probably wearing glasses, which ended up between the shelf and the face didn't help the injury either!!). Poor little guy. [Check out the right eye...it happened on Monday then totally swelled up on Tuesday...].

And here are the videos (adendum to the last post)

Here is a video of Jessica at 7 weeks old...

Here is one of Jessica in her bouncy chair - it was cut short because the fridge repair man knocked on the door (and you can hear Benson barking when he hears the knock)...

Here are two videos of Jack and I having a bit of a conversation...he just got home from getting his haircut (where he received a lollipop for good behaviour!!)...

New Pics (Jessica 7 weeks old and smiling sort of, Jack Haircut)

A few new pictures for your viewing pleasure. I'm uploading videos right now...so I'll post them a little later...

Here is Jack after yet another haircut. His hair grows so fast it's hard to keep it looking neat and tidy. I think he thinks the best part about the haircut is the lollipop afterwards:)

Jessica started smiling a bit last week...so I'm trying to get a good picture of her cute little smile. She rarely cooperates with the camera...which is funny because Jack was a total ham for the camera right from the beginning! So here are some pictures of partial smiles...

Jack had his eye surgery on May 25. This is a picture of him the afternoon after his morning surgery. He was quite sensitive to light and it was quite bright that day so the hospital gave him sunglasses! How cute! He even slept with them on so that he wouldn't touch his eyes while sleeping. His eyes look good...and he was a real trooper. He was a little snoozy the day of his surgery but the following day he was running around like a normal kiddo...with the help of a little bit of Tylenol! His eyes looked a little bloodshot for a few days but now they are great. We go for the post-op appointment tomorrow and we'll see if the doctor is pleased with her work then!

Actually...if you look at the first picture in this post (the one with the lollipop) and click on it to enlarge it you'll see the 'end result' of the surgery...(the picture was taken almost 2 weeks after his surgery). His eyes are pretty straight now (yeah!). If you want to compare it to a 'before' picture I think the one a couple posts down of him in the bathrobe shows how his right eye (in particular) was a little wonky.

And a couple more of Jessica...
